butter LONDON Cream Tea

This is one of those polishes that I had been wanting for quite a while for no real reason.  I passed it up in the store a few times thinking that I really didn't need another white polish.  When Ulta had their last butter LONDON sale though, I picked it up. It has been sitting in my "to be swatched" pile ever since.  Finally last night I got around to trying it out.  I have to say that I'm not overly thrilled with this one.  It took me four coats to get what you see here and there are still some patchy areas.  For me, that is too much work for the look that it gives.  Not to say that it isn't pretty, just too much effort for me.  I may give it another chance someday but for now it's not at the top of my list.

OPI Roadhouse Blues Swatch and Review

Last week I happened upon Roadhouse Blues at Ulta on clearance so of course I grabbed it!  I am a sucker for dark creme shades and this one was no different.  Do I have other similar colors, sure but I didn't have this one!  Anyway, on to the color!  This one is a dark navy cream that leans a little purple in certain light.  As with most OPI polish, it goes on well and dry time is average.  These pics were taken after work on day 2 so you will see some tipwear.  Keep in mind, I was my hands like a million times a day plus use alcohol hand sanitizer which kills the shine.  All things considered, it still looks pretty decent.  You could touch up the tips and add a fresh topcoat and get a few more days of wear I'm sure.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have been trying to keep up with a daily thankful post on my personal Facebook page, it is nice to notice how many things we have we may take for granted that we are thankful for. I have to work today so I won't be able to spend the day with my family like I had hoped but, such is the life of a nurse! I wanted something festive but simple for today so I chose a base of Revlon Hot for Chocolate and then layered Lush Lacquer Korny Candy over the top.

Number One Nemesis

I am sure by now you have all seen numerous swatches of this color but it is new to me!  I picked this one up several times while in the stores when it first came out but just never bought it until the other day when I saw it on clearance at Beauty Brands.  Number One Nemesis is of course from the Amazing Spiderman collection that OPI put out this summer.  It really is a pretty color, deep metallic green with some gold shimmer to it; this one is said to be a dupe of Chanel Graphite.  Shown here with two coats (though I should have done three) and a coat of Seche.

Blue Midnight for World Diabetes Day

A few days ago I saw a few posts on Facebook about bloggers doing blue manis for World Diabetes Day.  As a nurse, raising awareness for this disease is part of what I do so if I can do it in a way that fits into my "other life" as well that's just an added bonus!  I found this polish while I was on vacation and picked it up because I hadn't seen them locally and I am so glad I did!  I have quite a few Pure Ice polishes, for less than $2 they are a great deal and they really have some fun colors.  There is nothing on the bottle that hints that it is a matte/velvet polish but there was a huge display that indicated that part of them were.  I found this one to be very easy to work with which is especially great for a budget-friendly polish!

Juelp Nora

Sorry for the absence lately guys, I have been on vacation!  If you have "liked" my page on Facebook, then you already know that my nails did not fair so well while I was gone.  They were starting to peel a bit before I left but the dry air really did a number on them.  I hope to have some new stuff up in the next few days but be forewarned, my nails will be short!
This was the last polish I wore before heading out on vacation.  I have been a Julep Maven now for quite some time now and I have quite a collection of polish that I have yet to get up on the site!  Nora is from the November box and is a lovely shade that Julep calls a "silver aubergine".  The silver I see, the aubergine is not as noticeable to me in person as it is on the site.  Unless you hold it next to a silver polish, it really looks more silver.  That said, I still do like the color.  I used the "sandwich" method with this one to increase wear time; one coat polish, one coat tc, final coat polish.  I managed to get two days from this one before I had to remove it, for a matte/suede that is pretty decent, and part of that was due to my nails themselves peeling, not the polish.

For me, the monthly Maven program is by far the way to go, Julep can now be found at Sephora but the perks and discounts of the program are a better option for me.  If you aren't a member yet, you can sign up here.

Zoya Pinta

If you have followed my blog for any length of time at all, you probably know that Zoya is among my favorite brands.  I especially love their cream finish polishes and that is what I have to show you here today.  Pinta is a luscious purple cream with blue undertones.

I got loads of compliments on this polish and I have actually worn it twice recently which I almost never do (because of the massive list of untrieds I have)!  If you haven't tried Zoya yet, what are you waiting for?!
